Junior center Nneka Ezeigbo of the women’s basketball team has been named the Peoples Natural Gas RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for March 13, 2019. In a vote of Northeast Conference head coaches, Ezeigbo was named the 2019 NEC Defensive Player of the Year Monday. The only player to rank in the top seven in the NEC in both blocks and steals, Ezeigbo, a native of Ewing, N.J., also ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding, pulling down an average of 7.6 per game. In a 64-38 win over Fairleigh Dickinson (3/11/19) in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NEC Tournament, Ezeigbo led the way for the Colonials with 13 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a pair of steals. Overall in 2018-19 she leads Robert Morris in scoring with an average of 12.3 points per contest.
