Senior Alex Heger of the lacrosse team is the recipient of the Peoples Natural Gas RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for May 8, 2019. The most accomplished goalkeeper in program history, Heger helped lead the Colonials to back-to-back Northeast Conference Tournament titles and subsequent appearances in the NCAA Tournament by lifting the Colonials to an 11-10 victory over Hobart (5/4) in Emmitsburg, Md., in the title game. He posted 12 saves in the championship game, just two days after recording 14 saves in a 13-12 overtime victory over No. 1 seed Mount St. Mary’s. Thanks to his performance, Heger was named the 2019 NEC Tournament MVP and also earned a spot on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team of the Week. Overall in 2019, Heger has posted a 9-7 record as RMU’s starter in goal and owns a save percentage of .489 and 198 saves.
