Sophomore forward Joelle Fiala of the hockey team has been selected as the Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20, 2021. Fiala, a native of Clavet, Saskatchewan, helped the Colonials earn a 3-2 overtime victory over Mercyhurst (1/16/21) at Clearview Arena at the RMU Island Sports Center by scoring at 2:48 of overtime in three-on-three action to help RMU earn the win. In a 2-2 tie to open the series against the Lakers (1/15/21) in Erie, Pa., Fiala just missed giving the Colonials a win before successfully converting to complete the series and give RMU three points on the weekend. Fiala recorded a season-high four shots in the win over Mercyhurst, and the goal marked her first of the 2020-21 season. A biology major, Fiala has maintained a 3.98 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
