One of a pair of females to earn the Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade for April 9, 2014, is junior Tess Apke of the softball team. A native of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., Apke garners the honor after hitting .478 (11-for-23) in seven games last week in helping the Colonials to a 4-3 record. She posted a slugging percentage of .783 thanks to a pair of home runs and a double and also contributed seven runs, six RBI and 18 total bases. Her best performance of the week came against the University of Pittsburgh (4/1/14), as she went 4-for-4 at the dish with a double, home run, two runs and three RBI in helping lead Robert Morris to a 6-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader. For her efforts, Apke was selected as the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week (4/7/14). On the 2014 campaign, Apke leads the Colonials in all three slash lines (.370/.405/.620) as well as runs (19), hits (40), doubles (9), home runs (6) and RBI (19).
