Maria Alfano of the volleyball squad has been tabbed the Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for March 24, 2021. In a split against defending Horizon League Tournament champion Northern Kentucky at the UPMC Events Center that concluded RMU’s 2021 spring season, the senior middle blocker tallied 28 kills, seven blocks and a .510 attack percentage. In a 3-0 sweep of the Norse to open the two-match set, Alfano, a native of Cranberry Township, Pa., finished with 12 kills against one error in 20 attempts for a .550 attack percentage. She also recorded three blocks. Over her final six matches of the 2021 spring campaign, Alfano racked up 71 kills against just 13 errors to help her finish the regular season leading #HLVB in attack percentage at .332. Overall she posted 127 kills on the season. A biology major, Alfano has compiled a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.95.
