Graduate student Natalie Higgins of the softball team has been tabbed the Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week as March goes out like a lion. She is a co-recipient of the honor with senior Yessie Valencia of the track & field squad. In helping the Colonials post a 5-1 record during its homestand last week at the North Athletic Complex, Higgins hit. 444 (8-for-17) with three runs, seven RBI, a double and a home run. She recorded four multi-hit efforts, and in a 14-6 victory over Cleveland State (3/23) in five innings that completed the first doubleheader sweep for RMU as a member of the Horizon League, Higgins sealed the win in the bottom of the fourth by hitting her second grand slam of the 2021 campaign. So far this season, Higgins, a native of Middletown, Ohio, and owning a 3.50 grade point average while earning a master’s degree in organizational leadership, has started each of RMU’s 22 games and has produced a slash line of .417/.449/681 while leading the Horizon League in RBI (28).
