A new month brings a new year of Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Student-Athlete of the Week honors, and garnering one of the first accolades of the 2021-22 season is sophomore outside hitter Abby Ryan of the volleyball team. In helping the Colonials open the season 3-0 at the FDU Tournament in Hackensack, N.J., Ryan paced the RMU offense with 36 kills and a .213 attack percentage while also recording five service aces and 29 digs. In the season opener, a five-set triumph over UMESÂ (8/27), Ryan recorded a double-double thanks to 20 kills and 12 digs. She added 11 kills in a sweep of Manhattan (8/28) the next afternoon and in two sets of a win over host Fairleigh Dickinson (8/28) posted five kills and a .308 attack percentage. Ryan, a native of Orchard Park, N.Y., is a nursing major who has recorded a perfect 4.00 grade point average (GPA).
