Tabbed the Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15, 2021, is redshirt sophomore linebacker Jamar Shegog of the football team. He joins freshman midfielder Bryan Akongo of the soccer team in garnering the honor. In RMU’s 2021 season opener @ Central Michigan (9/11), Shegog registered a game-high 18 tackles, including seven solo stops and a sack. It’s the most tackles in a game by an RMU student-athlete since fellow linebacker Aniello Buzzacco recorded 18 takedowns in 24-20 triumph over Bryant (10/26/19) at Joe Walton Stadium. Shegog, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and an accounting major who has maintained a 3.37 cumulative grade point average (GPA), is the 10th member of the Colonials in program history to record at least 18 tackles in a game.
