Earning the final Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor of 2021 is junior forward Matt Mayers of the basketball team. In his first two starts as a member of the Colonials in road games against Bowling Green (12/19/21) and Saint Francis U (12/22/21), Mayers, a native of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 70.6 percent (12-for-17) from the floor. In his first RMU start, Mayers contributed 15 points against the Falcons. Three nights later, Mayers helped the Colonials earn their first road win of the season, a 75-67 victory over the Red Flash at DeGol Arena, with his first career double-double thanks to 16 points and 11 boards. He shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor and was also 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. Overall on the 2021-22 season, Mayers is averaging 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds and has converted 70.3 percent (26-for-37) of his attempts from the field.
