Senior Esther Castedo of the women’s basketball team has been tabbed the Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 26, 2022. In a home-and-home series last week with Youngstown State, Castedo, a native of Lugo, Spain, averaged 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals while shooting 47.6 percent (10-for-21) from the field and going a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. In the opener of the two-game set at the UPMC Events Center (1/20/22), Castedo tied for team-high honors with 12 points. Two days later at the Beeghly Center (1/22/22), Castedo paced the Colonials with 15 points while adding three assists and a pair of thefts. Overall on the 2021-22 season, Castedo has started each of RMU’s 16 games and leads RMU in scoring at 10.9 points per contest.
