Earning the Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor for May 14, 2014, is junior Samantha Santillo of the softball squad. A native of Ellwood City, Pa., Santillo claimed the Northeast Conference Golden Glove Award for the third consecutive year in a vote of league head coaches and was honored with the award May 7, 2014. Thanks to the honor, Santillo became just the second softball student-athlete in NEC history to win the same postseason award three times in her career. In 2014, Santillo tallied a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, not committing an error in 237 total chances. She also threw out 15 of the 31 opposing runners that tried to steal off her and allowed just one passed ball all season. Santillo will enter her senior season in 2015 with a career fielding percentage of .995, which is a school record.
