Earning her second Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week in the last three weeks is junior Bethany Ledford of the track & field squad. A native of Huntingdon, Pa., Ledford claimed the 2014 ECAC Championship in the pole vault last weekend in Princeton, N.J., at the IC4A/ECAC Championships. Thanks to a leap of 3.87 meters (12’8.25”), Ledford become the second student-athlete in program history to win an event at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, joining former Colonial Genita Dickey, who won gold in the 100-meter hurdles in 2001. Ledford’s mark also established a new school record in the event, shattering her previous mark of 3.70 meters (12’1.50”) she set at the Red Flash Open (4/26/14).
