Senior Rachael Kotula of the track & field team earns the Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade for June 4, 2014, earning her second honor of the spring campaign. Kotula competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., in her signature event, the javelin, last week, placing 19th with a toss of 47.08 meters (154’5”). The mark is a personal record as well as ranking eighth all-time in school history. Kotula’s performance at the NCAA East Preliminaries came on the heels of earning Capital One District 2 Women’s Track & Field / Cross Country Academic All-America accolades, the first female student-athlete from the program to garner the honor since 1997. Kotula, a native of East Berlin, Pa., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.88.
