The final Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week of the 2013-14 season should come as no surprise, as senior Chris Carper earns the honor for the fifth time this year as well as 13th time over the last four years, a school record. Carper, a native of Altoona, Pa., became the first student-athlete in school history to earn All-America First Team plaudits by finishing fourth in the javelin at the 2014 NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, last Saturday. On his first throw of the event, Carper unleashed a toss of 71.19 meters (233’6”), which proved to be his best throw of the afternoon. The toss ranks third all-time in school history, and Carper now owns each of the top 11 marks in school history in the javelin.
