Robert Morris University women's lacrosse has added Rachael McKinnon to its staff as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.
McKinnon was a 2016 graduate of the University of Denver, playing lacrosse all four years for the Pioneers. McKinnon was an attacker for the Pioneers under Head Coach Liza Kelly. McKinnon helped Denver to a conference Championship in 2014, scoring 53 points that season. The Brooklin, Ontario native scored 121 points in her Pioneers career. McKinnon's Denver team made it to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen in 2013 and 2014. In 2013, McKinnon was named the team's Most Valuable Freshmen.
McKinnon graduated from Denver with a Bachelor's degree in Communications Studies with minors in Marketing and French Culture and Civilization. She is pursuing a Master's degree in Instructional Leadership at RMU while completing her MBA in Sports Management.
A Canada native, McKinnon played both field and box lacrosse in addition to ice hockey at the Junior level as part of the PWHL. She attended Sinclair Secondary School as a French Immersion student. McKinnon won five Provincial Championship medals with the Whitby Warriors box lacrosse team and seven Provincial Gold medals with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights as well as a summer games championship in 2012.

Since graduating from Denver, McKinnon has coached at hockey and lacrosse camps in the Durham, Ontatio region, along with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights U11 and U19 Elite teams. Last season, McKinnon worked as a graduate assistant at Franklin Pierce University, helping the Ravens to their conference tournament and earning their first all-American student-athlete.
