Katy Phillips

Katy Phillips was the head coach of the Robert Morris women’s lacrosse team from its inception in 2004 through the fall of 2017.

Since her appointment to the position in 2004, Phillips has built the program from the ground up, surrounding the team with exceptional talent, tough competition and the means for success. Phillips has led the program from its humble beginnings to a 95-119 overall record.

In 13 years on the Colonials’ sideline, Phillips has taken a team that finished winless in its first Division I season to one that has made the Northeast Conference tournament in each of the past four years. She was named NEC Coach of the Year in 2011.

Under Phillips, the Colonials have recorded five winning seasons, six above .500, 

Phillips has a variety of experience in the sport of lacrosse, currently with Pittsburgh Premiere Lacrosse. Phillips spent four years as the director of women’s events for Three Rivers Lacrosse in Pittsburgh from 1998-2002. While with Three Rivers Lacrosse, she created, organized and staffed various lacrosse events for high school female athletes, helping triple league participation and initiating team and league events.

While also serving as the director of women’s events for Three Rivers Lacrosse, Phillips was the head coach of the Quaker Valley Girls Lacrosse Club, coaching the varsity squad from 1999-2002. At the same time she also served as an education specialist at Pittsburgh Voyager. Phillips came to Robert Morris after spending a year as the director of youth, teen and family programming at the Berkshire South Regional Community Center in Greater Barrington, Mass.

A native of Pittsburgh, Phillips competed in Division I lacrosse at New Hampshire and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine and freshwater biology, as well as receiving her Master's degree while at Robert Morris.
