Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University volleyball team took on Long Island Saturday afternoon at the Charles L. Sewall Center in a Northeast Conference match. The Blackbirds (18-10, 5-0 NEC) defeated RMU, 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 30-16). The loss dropped the Colonials to 11-14 on the season and 1-2 in the NEC.

The Colonial offense was led by junior middle blocker / outside hitter Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian). Wolthuis tallied a team high 10 kills to go along with two digs. Sophomore outside hitter Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) tallied seven kills, four digs, three block assists, one service ace and one assist, while senior middle blocker Janette Schneider (Leetsdale, Pa. / Quaker Valley) totaled six kills on 14 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. Schneider also tallied two digs and two total blocks. Junior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) dished out 27 assists and tallied eight digs.

The Colonials return to action Sunday October 29, when they take on NEC opponent St. Francis (N.Y.). The match will be played at the Sewall Center at 1:00 p.m.
