Morgantown, W.Va. - The
Robert Morris University volleyball team traveled to West Virginia for a non-conference match against the Mountaineers. The Colonials defeated the Mountaineers, 3-1 (30-22, 20-30, 30-27, 30-26), to improve to 9-11 on the season.
The offense was led by senior middle blocker Janette Schneider (Leetsdale, Pa. / Quaker Valley). Schneider tallied a game high 20 kills on 38-attempts, along with seven digs and five total blocks. Junior middle blocker / outside hitter Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) tallied 19 kills and 19 digs to record her double-double.
Junior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) finished with 51 assists and 15 digs. She also tallied two block assists and two kills. Sophomore Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) finished with a game high 22 digs. Senior Lisa Jaszka (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) and junior Jessica Camaioni (Williamstown, N.J. / Williamstown) each finished with 11 and 10 digs respectively.
The Colonials return to action, Tuesday, October 10 when they travel to Duquesne. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. RMU then travels to Seton Hall on October 14 before opening Northeast Conference play at Sacred Heart on October 15.
