Jessy Nelko (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) tallied a team high 16 kills Sunday afternoon helping the
Robert Morris University volleyball team defeat Northeast Conference opponent Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1 (30-32, 30-24, 30-27, 30-22). With the victory, the Colonials finish the regular season with a 15-15 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play.
Junior outside hitter Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) tallied a double-double for the second straight match, finishing with 12 digs and 11 kills. Stambaugh also recorded two service aces and two total blocks. Senior middle blocker Janette Schneider (Leetsdale, Pa. / Quaker Valley) finished with 13 kills on 25 attempts for a .480 attack percentage, as well as four total blocks and one dig.
Junior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) dished out a match high 45 assists along with seven digs, three kills, two service aces and one block assist. Sophomore Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) led the Colonial defense with a match high 15 digs and five service aces.
The Colonials have clinched the No. 3 seed for next weekends NEC Tournament at Long Island. RMU will face Wagner on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 12:30 p.m.
