Baltimore, Md. - The Robert Morris University volleyball team finished the 2006 Towson University Invitational, hosted by Towson University in Towson, Md. with an 0-3 record. The Colonials fell to Ohio State 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-17) and Towson University 3-0 (30-24, 30-28, 30-25) on Saturday. Robert Morris then suffered a 3-0 (30-23, 30-13, 30-17) setback to the University of Houston Sunday morning.
Junior outside hitter / middle blocker Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) finished off her tournament leading the Colonials for the second straight match in kills with nine. Junior outside hitter Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) finished the match with four kills.
Junior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) finished the match with a team high 17 assists and nine digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) finished with four digs and a game high two service aces.
Robert Morris, under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Rob Thomas, returns to Moon Township, Pa. next weekend to co-host the Omni William Penn Invitational (Sept. 1-2) with Duquesne. Day one of the invitational posts the Colonials vs. Delaware State University at 11:00 a.m. and Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW) at 7:00 p.m.
