Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University volleyball team hosted Morgan State, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The Colonials defeated the Bears, 3-0 (30-26, 30-15, 30-17), the victory improved the Colonials to 6-7 on the season, while Morgan State dropped to 4-6 on the season.
Junior middle blocker / outside hitter Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) led the Colonials on offense with 17 kills. Wolthuis also tallied 11 digs to give her a double-double, to go along with three total blocks. The Colonials other double-double came from junior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin). Storino finished with 42 assists, 11 digs, two blocks and one kill.
The only other Colonial with double-digit kills was junior outside hitter Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) with 16 kills. Junior middle blocker Haley Schroeder (Kenmore, N.Y. / Kenmore West) tallied seven total blocks and six kills, while sophomore outside hitter Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) tallied six kills and four blocks.
Sophomore Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) finished with a game high 16 digs, whith junior Jessica Camaioni (Willamstown, N.J. / Williamstown) chipping in 12 digs.
Robert Morris is next in action when they travel to the IPFW Tournament. The Colonials will take on Texas-Pan American Friday, September 22 at 5:00 p.m.
