Hanover, N.H. - The
Robert Morris University volleyball team traveled to Dartmouth Friday afternoon to take on the Highlanders for its first match of the Dartmouth Invitational. The victory improved the Colonials record to, 8-9 overall, while NJIT fell to, 3-12 on the season.
Junior setter Tawyna Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) finished with a match high 38 assists and 12 digs to tally her double-double. Storino also tallied three service aces, three block assists and two kills. The Colonial defense was led by sophomore Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) with 12 digs and three assists.
Junior outside hitters Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) and Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Much. / South Christian) led the RMU offense with 14 kills. Wolthuis also tallied four digs, one assist and one block assist. Senior middle blocker Janette Schneider (Leetsdale, Pa. / Quaker Valley) finished with eight kills and a match high six total blocks.
The Colonials return to action tomorrow when they close out the Dartmouth Invitational against Harvard at 11:00 a.m. and the Big Green at 5:00 p.m.
