Colonials Sweep Sacred Heart

Amanda Graham leads RMU with 20 kills and four total blocks

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University volleyball team defeated Sacred Heart, 3-0 (30-17, 30-27, 30-14), Sunday afternoon at the Charles L. Sewall Center. With the victory, the Colonials move to 15-10 overall and 5-2 in NEC play, while Sacred Heart is now 9-17 overall and 3-3 in NEC action.

 

Freshman Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla. / Eau Gallie) led the Colonial offense with 20 kills on 24 attempts for a .792 hitting percentage including a perfect 8-for-8 in game one of the match. She also finished with four total blocks, one dig and one assist.

 

Senior Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) added 11 kills and nine digs, while junior Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) and Jaye Hellmich (Costa Mesa, Calif. / Estancia) each chipped in seven kills.

 

Senior Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) dished out a match high 44 assists along with four total blocks, three digs and two service aces. Junior Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) totaled a match high 15 digs for the Colonials.

 

The Colonials will close out the regular season next weekend when they host NEC rival Saint Francis (Pa.) on Nov. 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sewall Center.
