Clearwater, Fla. - The Robert Morris University softball team concluded its annual spring trip through the state of Florida by posting a record of 0-6 in the 2007 USF adidas Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. The six defeats drops RMU to 1-9 overall on the 2007 campaign.
In three of the six games of the invite the Colonials struggled to get their offense going and were shutout, including each of their last two games in the tournament. Robert Morris opened the tournament with an 8-2 loss to Hofstra and also dropped an 8-0 decision to Big Ten foe Ohio State March 8. The next day the Colonials dropped an 8-1 decision to Virginia Tech, then lost to Fordham, 13-4. On the final day of the invitational Central Michigan garnered a 10-0 win over the club before Michigan State downed the Colonials, 4-0.
Junior Brenna Reed (Carnegie, Pa. / Montour) finished 3-for-3 with two RBI in the tournament opener against Hofstra but mustered just one hit the rest of invitational. Reed was the only Colonial to register a multi-hit game in the tournament for Robert Morris.
The Colonials now return north and will take part in the Maryland Tournament, March 16-18, in College Park, Md.
