Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University volleyball team fell to Bucknell, 3-0, Saturday evening at the Charles L. Sewall Center, on the opening day of the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. The Colonials are now 2-2 on the season, while the Bison improved to 2-2 on the season.
Junior Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) led the Colonials with 16 kills, along with six digs and one block assist. Senior Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) tallied 14 kills, while fellow senior Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) finished with 13 kills. Stambaugh also recorded six digs, while Wolthuis finished with five digs.
Senior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) lead the way with 40 assists, along with five digs, one block assist and one service ace. Junior Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) recorded a match high 19 digs.
The Colonials return to action Saturday as they close out the weekend tournament against Youngstown State, at 3:00 p.m., and North Dakota State, at 7:00 p.m.
