Loretto, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University volleyball team swept a pair of matches on the final day of the Saint Francis (Pa.) Tournament on its way to being crowned tournament champions. The Colonials began the day by defeating host, Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-0 (30-24, 30-28, 30-28) before downing Coppin State, 3-0 (30-18, 30-11, 30-21) in the evening. With the pair of victories, RMU now sits at 8-4 on the season.
In the morning tilt, RMU knocked of tournament host Saint Francis (Pa.). All-tournament MVP Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) tallied a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs. She also recorded six total blocks and one kill.
Joining Storino on the all-tournament team is freshman Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla. / Eau Gallie). Graham tallied a match high 14 kills, while also finishing with six total blocks and five digs. Senior Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) recorded 12 kills and two digs.
Senior's Jessica Camaioni (Williamstown, N.J. / Williamstown) and Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) both tallied a team high 11 digs.
The Colonials finished off the day with a sweep of Coppin State. Stambaugh and Wolthuis both tallied a team high nine kills, while Graham and junior Cassie Lee (Vista Calif. / Vista) both finished with seven kills.
Storino finished with a team high 24 assists and along with Camaioni tallied a team high eight digs.
RMU returns to action Sept. 25 as they play host to Duquesne. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. at the Charles L. Sewall Center.
