Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University volleyball team extended its winning-streak to five-games Tuesday evening with a, 3-1 (29-31, 30-28, 30-22, 30-27), victory over Duquesne (7-9) at the Charles L. Sewall Center. With the victory the Colonials are now 9-5 on the season.
For the match, senior setter Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) tallied a double-double with a season high 59 assists and 10 digs. She also tallied two service aces and two kills on four attempts. Junior Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) tallied a career high 19 kills along with five total blocks and four digs.
Rounding out the Colonial offense was senior Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian) with a match high 20 kills, senior Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) with 11 kills and freshman Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla. / Eau Gallie) with 11 kills.
Leading the defense for RMU was junior Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) with 25 digs and two service aces, while freshman Jaye Hellmich (Costa Mesa, Calif. / Estancia) totaled a team high six total blocks.
The Colonials are next in action Friday, Sept. 28 when they open the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Tournament against Norfolk at 6:00 p.m.
