Volleyball Downs Idaho State, 3-2

Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University volleyball team defeated Idaho State on the final day of the UC-Riverside Tournament, 3-2 (24-30, 31-29, 22-30, 30-21, 15-11). With the victory, the Colonials finished the weekend tournament with a record of 2-1, improving their overall record on the season to 5-4.

 

The Colonials once again found themselves in a, 2-1, deficit after three-games but fought back and won the final two games to take the match.

 

For the third straight match, senior Tawnya Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) tallied a double-double. Against Idaho State, she recorded a match high 52 assists and 19 digs. She also finished with eight kills and one service ace. Also tallying a double-double was Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key). Stambaugh finished with 14 kills and 13 digs, along with two block assists and two service aces.

 

Freshman Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla. / Eau Gallie) a match high 17 kills, along with five digs and three block assists. Junior Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) tallied 18 digs for RMU. She also finished with one kill and one service ace.

 

The Colonials return to action Friday, Sept. 21 when they travel to Loretto, Pa. for the Saint Francis (Pa.) Tournament. RMU will open the tournament with Howard at 6:00 p.m.
