Colonials Split With Long Island

Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University softball team split its doubleheader with Northeast Conference opponent Long Island. The Colonials fell, 3-0, in game one before winning game two, 1-0. RMU is now 11-13 overall and 3-1 in NEC action.

Robert Morris dropped game one, 3-0. LIU scored one run in the second inning with a Lauren Kemp RBI single and then put a pair on the board in the third inning with a pair of unearned runs. Brenna Reed (Carnegie, Pa. / Montour) took the loss allowing three runs on six hits only one of which was earned. Reed also struck out four batters.

The Colonials took game two, 1-0, with a two out triple by Lauren Nisivoccia (Nutley, N.J. / Mount St. Dominic) scoring Jessica Calderone (Wilmington, De. / St. Marks) who singled one batter before Nisivoccia. Lindsey Moates (Ocala, Fla. / Forest) recorded her seventh victory of the season pitching seven shutout innings. She also struck out four batters.

Robert Morris returns to action Monday, April 7 as they travel to Wagner for an NEC doubleheader.
