Moon Township, Pa. / Charles L. Sewall Center-The Robert Morris University volleyball team slipped to 5-14 on the season following a 3-0 loss to cross-town rival Duquesne at the Charles L. Sewall Center Tuesday afternoon. The Dukes swept the match, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22, to improve to 12-6 on the season.
Junior Charla Drabant (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton North) filled the stat sheet with a solid overall effort, killing seven balls while also chipping in with nine digs, three assists and an ace. The junior outside hitter had a .250 attack percentage.
Junior Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla. / Eau Gallie) led the Colonials with nine kills, matching the team's season high for kills in a three-set match. She finished with a .226 attack percentage and also had a hand in on seven blocks. Graham had two of the solo variety and five assists.
Sophomore setter Alyssa Bennett (Ramona, Calif. / Ramona) finished with 28 assists while adding five blocks. She also chipped in with three kills and a .250 attack percentage. Junior libero Corinne Moser (Meyersdale, Pa. / Meyersdale) topped the team with 13 digs. Sophomore Hannah Veith (Columbus, Ohio / Worthington) added seven kills, a block, an assist and a dig.
Duquesne was paced by Sara Scheirman and Nicole Wright who each had nine kills. The two also topped the squad with 14 and 15 digs, respectively. Chelsea Tillotson had 30 assists while also tallying four kills on five attempts.
The Dukes hit at a .205 clip while the Colonials finished off .145 of their kill attempts.
Robert Morris returns to action Saturday, October 10, when they host Bryan in a 3:00 p.m. match at the Charles L. Sewall Center.
