The Colonials drop the first set before winning three straight over St. Francis Brooklyn.

Box Score

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's volleyball team claimed its first victory of the season at the Charles L. Sewall Center with a four-set victory over St. Francis Brooklyn; 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 25-15.

Robert Morris (2-15, 2-1 NEC) would take the first three points of the opening set and control the lead for the majority of the set.  With seven lead changes in the set, each time that St. Francis Brooklyn (5-16, 1-2 NEC) would take the lead, the Colonials would snatch the advantage right back.  The final lead would belong to the Terriers after taking the final two points of the set to win, 26-24.

The Colonials would start the second set the same way they started the first by taking the first three points of the set.  In this set, RMU would not allow the Terriers to sniff the lead as it led from start to finish.  RMU opened an eight-point lead in the set before taking the set by a score of 25-21.

The first half of the third set was led by the Terriers as they held a two-point lead for the majority of their time with the lead.  RMU would rally to tie the set with the score 11-11 during a four-point run that would give the Colonials a lead they would not relinquish.  Despite multiple attempts by the Terriers to regain the lead, RMU would fend off each attempt that included three times that the two teams were tied during the remainder of the set.  The Colonials would take the third set by a score of 25-21.

The final set of the match would be another set that the Colonials would lead from start to finish.  RMU would start the fourth set with the first three points before opening up a ten-point lead at 14-4.  The Colonials would carry that advantage for the remainder of the set as they claimed the fourth set by a score of 25-15 to earn their second win of the season.

A trio of Colonials recorded ten or more kills as the team hit .257 in the match.  The trio was led by freshman April Krivoniak (Greensburg, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) who recorded a match-high 14 kills.  Junior Hannah Hoffman (Parker, Colo. / Ponderosa) recorded her first 50-assist match of the season in the victory.  Fellow junior Melissa Bograd (Lemont, Ill. / Lemont) was just one of two Colonials to record ten or more digs as she led the team with 13 digs.  Freshman Leah Dunivan (Troy, Ohio / Miami East) led the Colonials at the net as she recorded four blocks including two solo blocks.

The Colonials will finish out the weekend at home with a pivotal early-season showdown against LIU Brooklyn on Sunday.  First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. against the Blackbirds.
