Moon Township, Pa. / North Atlhetic Complex — The Robert Morris University men's soccer team buried Niagara, 4-0, Friday afternoon to stay perfect in home games this season. The four-goal output is the team's best since October of 2010. RMU improves to 2-3-2 with the victory while the Purple Eagles slip to 1-5.

Sophomore Neco Brett (Kingston, Jamaica / Excelsior) and junior Carl Reid (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Catharines) each had a goal and an assist in the game. Freshman Joseph Kuta (Mississauga, Ontario / St. Joan of Arc) did not have to make a save in earning the shutout at RMU outshot the Purps, 21-5.

The Colonials pressured early, earning three corner kicks in the game's opening 10 minutes. They finally broke through as a clearance from the RMU defensive-third turned into a goal when Brett won the ball from a Niagara defender. The steal gave him a golden scoring chance and he took advantage with a soft shot over William Banahene who had come well off his line.

The score remained tied into halftime as RMU held an 8-3 advantage in shots and had eight first half corner kicks.

The Colonials dominance continued into the second half as the their 10th corner kick of the game was a perfect ball from the foot of senior Miro Cabrilo (Hamilton, Ontario / Glendale) to the back post. Sophomore Matt Fonagy (Cecil, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) rose up and buried a header for his first career goal. The 54th minute score made it 2-0.

Sophomore Bruce Cullen (Pickering, Ontario / Pine Ridge) created the third goal with an impressive individual effort, drawing a foul in the Niagara box after beating a trio of Niagara defenders. Reid  took the penalty kick in the 82nd minute and put into the right side to make it 3-0.

Reid and Brett controlled play on the right half of the field before Brett played a cross to Cullen on the left side. After one touch, the sophomore hit a soft shot to the far post, tallying his first goal of the season and making it 4-0 just 2:28 after the team's previous goal.

Robert Morris plays the second contest of its three-game homestand Wednesday, Sept. 25, when Duquesne visits North Athletic Complex for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
