Erie, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University women's hockey team was swept this afternoon by No. 7/8 Mercyhurst University, falling to the Lakers, 4-1, from the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Robert Morris (3-8-1, 0-2-0 CHA) received a goal from defenseman
Mikaela Lowater – the first of her career – but couldn't muster up much else against Mercyhurst (8-1-1, 2-0-0 CHA).
The Colonials had a prime opportunity in the first period, as they picked up a five-on-three power-play for a minute and 41 seconds. However, RMU couldn't find the back of the net despite firing six shots during the advantage. In the stanza, the Colonials outshot the Lakers, 15-4.
Lowater picked up her first career goal just two minutes and change into the middle frame. Senior captain

Mercyhurst responded a minute and a half later on the power play, as
Kelsey Gunn served a checking penalty.
The Lakers opened up a 2-1 lead at the 6:24 mark of the period with an unassisted tally from Jenna Dingeldein.
In the third period, Mercyhurst received goals from Shelby Bram and Emily Janiga – the latter being an empty-netter – to set the final.

Robert Morris closes its longest road trip of the season next weekend as it continues CHA play with Lindenwood. Opening faceoff between the Colonials and Lions is set for Friday, Nov. 7 at 8:00 p.m. from Lindenwood Ice Arena.
