Huntington, W.Va. – The Robert Morris University women's basketball lost at Marshall, 62-46, in its final non-conference game of the season at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, W.Va., Monday night. The loss is the seventh straight for the Colonials who are now 2-9 overall. Marshall improves to 8-3 on the season.

Anna Niki Stamolamprou led the Colonials with 12 points, all coming in the second half. Freshman forward Megan Smith added 10 points. Robert Morris shot just 29.6 percent (16-54) and committed 22 turnovers which led to 26 points for the Herd.

Marshall jumped on top of the Colonials with a 9-0 run that put the host squad on top, 9-2, with 12:52 to play. After trading baskets, a Smith three-pointer sparked a 10-0 Colonials run that ended with a 15-foot baseline jumper by Shakema Dashiell to put RMU on top, 14-12, with 6:34 left in the opening half. The Herd finished the opening frame on a 6-2 run, however, to take a 22-18 lead into the break.

Neither team shot well in the opening frame, but Marshall scored 11 points on nine first half turnovers by the Colonials. Smith had seven points for RMU at the midway point.

After Judith Sole hit a three to open the second half and cut the margin to one ponts, Marshall scored eight consecutive points fueled by a pair of three-pointers from Scott. The Herd pushed the lead to 12 points, 38-26, with 13:44 showing.

Robert Morris showed some life as Stamolamprou knocked down a pair of three-pointers and Jolie Olingende hit two from the chalk to cut the lead to just four points, 38-34. Marshall, however, ended a five minute scoring drought on a Scott drive. Her bucket started a 14-2 run that allowed Marshall to surge ahead for the 62-46 win.

Robert Morris opens Northeast Conference play Saturday, Sept. 3, when they host the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in a 1:00 p.m. game at the Charles L. Sewall Center.
