Moon Township, Pa. / Charles L. Sewall Center – The Robert Morris University women's basketball team used a late first half run to pull away from Central Connecticut State en route to a 66-49 victory in a Northeast Conference game at the Charles L. Sewall Center Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Colonials record to 15-9 overall, a league-best 11-2 in the NEC, and is the squad's eighth straight victory at the Chuck where they are 72-15 (.828) since 2004-05.

Senior forward Artemis Spanou (Rhodes, Greece / Nea Smyrni) tallied 17 points, 21 rebounds and six assists to earn her 78th career double-double, moving into a tie for third all-time in NCAA Division I history. Spanou has been responsible for 10 of the program's 17 20-rebound performances.

Freshman Cassie Oursler (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) added 13 points and rejected four shots. Sophomore Ashley Ravelli (Milano, Italy / The Hun School) tacked on 11 points and pulled down a career-best eight rebounds. She also had three assists and two steals.

The Colonials got off to a slow start and found themselves trailing, 23-18, when Central Connecticut State forward Johnna Fisher scored a fast-break lay-in with 6:29 left in the opening frame. Ravelli fed redshirt-junior Jolie Olingende (Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of the Congo / Arizona Western) for a lay-up that started a 12-0 surge to end the half. The Blue Devils missed their final nine shots while Spanou and sophomore Rebeca Navarro (Galicia, Spain / Las Siege Palmas) each scored five points.

Oursler scored the first four points of the second half that allowed RMU to stretch a seven-point halftime lead to 34-23. Midway through the second frame, Ravelli collected her own miss and scored, starting a 13-0 RMU surge. The Colonials took their biggest lead of the game, 52-32, at the end of that run when senior Kelly Hartwell (Woodbridge, Va. / Gar-Field) scored on a put-back with 7:17 to play.

The visiting Blue Devils (9-14, 3-10 NEC) would get no closer than 15 the rest of the way. CCSU started the game 7-of-12 from the field, but went just 11-48 (22.9 percent) the rest of the way. No Blue Devils player reached double-digit points with Fisher leading the team with nine points off the bench.

The Colonials went the other way, starting just 3-of-12 before finishing the game at 43.1 percent (25-58). RMU owned the glass, 55-30, scoring 18 second chance points and owning the edge in the paing, 38-24.
