Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team got goals from three different players as they upended the Rider Broncs, 3-0, at a rain-soaked North Athletic Complex Sunday afternoon. The Colonials are now 1-0-1 on the year and have a record of 9-1-1 in their last 11 home games. It was the season opener for Rider.

The Colonials ended the scoreless tie with just one second left in the first half. Freshman Zach Graziani won the ball deep in the RMU end and quickly started a counter attack with an outlet pass to sophomore Bruce Cullen. Cullen sent it inside to Devon "Speedy" Williams who played it back outside to Cullen as the 10 second countdown started. The sophomore midfielder then combined with Neco Brett on a give-and-go that ended with Cullen streaking down the left side and rifling a shot inside the near left post.

Just 64 seconds of game time elapsed before RMU extended its lead to 2-0. A lazy pass back to the Broncs keeper was stolen by Brett who was then fouled inside the box by Rider keeper David Pastuna. Williams took the ensuing penalty kick and scored with a shot high and to the left.

The Colonials iced the game in the 80th minute when Jared Latchford controlled a sloppy Broncs clearance with a header to top of the box to freshman Corey McCurdy. McCurdy then slipped the ball inside the box where Brett placed a shot inside the left post.

Robert Morris outshot Rider, 17-9, forcing Pastuna to make seven saves. Rider hit the net with six shots as Brenden Alfery made four saves and Winter Fondi made one.  Redshirt-junior Bennett Jull also turned aside a shot on the goal line.

Robert Morris travels to Wright State on Friday, Sept. 5, at 7:00 p.m.
