Colonials Drop Match to Butler in Straight Sets

Senior outside hitter Erica Robb was one kill and one dig short of a double-double

Boulder, Colo. – The Robert Morris University volleyball team dropped its opening match of the Omni Invitational to Butler in straight sets this evening.

Robert Morris (1-7, 0-0 NEC) couldn't get much going against Butler (5-2, 0-0 BIG EAST), tallying just 28 kills in the three sets. As a team, the Colonials hit at .098 clip and had 19 attack errors.

The Bulldogs took the first set, 25-17. Senior outside hitter Erica Robb tallied three kills in the frame, while classmate Sydney Sizemore added two.

The second set went to Butler by a score of 25-19. RMU picked up three service aces in the frame, two from senior middle blocker Becky Jay and one from freshman setter Brianna Frakes.

In the third and final set, Robb picked up four kills while fellow senior Alena Esposito tallied two.

Robb finished a kill and a dig short of a double-double as she tallied nine of each. Senior libero Melissa Bograd led the team in digs with 14.

Frakes and senior Hannah Hoffman split time at setter, combining to dish out 23 assists.

Robert Morris is back in action tomorrow with two matches. The Colonials take on the host Colorado at noon MDT (2:00 PM EST), then close out the invitational against Idaho State at 5:30 PM MDT (7:30 PM EST).
