Scouting Indiana State – The Sycamores have jumped out to a 4-0 start as they swept through the Holiday Inn Classic last weekend. ISU has two players with 40 or more kills in sophomore Bree Spangler (46) and junior Cassandra Wills (41), with the latter compiling 13 blocks (4 solo, 9 assists) on the early season.

Match #2 – Friday, September 5 – 7:00 PM
Robert Morris vs. Youngstown State (3-0, 0-0 Horizon)
Charles L. Sewall Center - Moon Township, Pa.

Against the Penguins – Robert Morris has met Youngstown State 33 times in its history, collecting just six wins against the Penguins. The latest one of those victories came in 2011, as the Colonials knocked off YSU in four sets (25-14, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18). Amanda Craig, Hannah Veith, and Erica Robb tallied 34 of RMU's 48 kills, while Lindsey Monger and Melissa Bograd each had double-digit digs with 13 and 11, respectively.

Scouting Youngstown State – Like the Colonials' first opponent of the invitational, the Penguins come to Moon Township as the champions of a tournament last weekend, as they swept through the Belmont Invitational. Senior Lexi Egler leads YSU with 34 kills, while sophomore Val Jeffery has dished out 100 assists this season.

Match #3 – Saturday, September 6 – 1:00 PM
Robert Morris vs. UMass Lowell (1-4, 0-0 America East)
Charles L. Sewall Center - Moon Township, Pa.

Against the Riverhawks – Last year provided the first meeting between Robert Morris and UMass Lowell. The Colonials came out victorious in straight sets (25-16, 25-14, 25-12), thanks to a balanced attacking effort that saw four different players tally five kills or more. One of those players, Kristin Thompson, assisted on the defensive end with five block assists and a solo block.

Scouting UMass Lowell – After being swept at the Bryant Hampton Inn-vitational, the Redhawks earned their first Division I win as they defeated Quinnipiac in straight sets. Senior Ella Merrill had 14 kills and 10 digs in the victory.

The Conference's Best – Sophomore outside hitter Arden Fisher claimed the first Molten/NEC Player of the Week award of 2014 as she enjoyed a strong start to the season. Fisher, who was the Colonials' lone selection on the All-NEC Second Team in 2013, is in the midst of a double-double streak of four matches as she has compiled 55 kills and 48 digs. Her kill total is the most for a Colonial through four matches since 2003, when Megan Bell tallied 64.

Looking Ahead - Robert Morris hits the road next weekend for the Colorado Tournament. The Colonials open up the tourney with one match on Sept. 12, as they take on Butler at 4:30 p.m. MDT. RMU plays the host Buffaloes on Sept. 13 at noon MDT, and complete its run in Boulder with a match against Idaho State at 5:30 p.m. MDT. The Colonials have faced these three teams a combined four times in their history, with a win against the Bengals in 2007 serving as the lone victory.
