RMU Drops Defensive Battle at LIU Brooklyn

Box Score Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Robert Morris University has not swept the Northeast Conference's two Brooklyn based schools since 1994 and that streak will continue following a 1-0 loss at LIU Brooklyn Friday night at LIU Field. The Colonials slip to 7-6-0 overall and 1-1 in league games while the Blackbirds stay unbeaten in the NEC at 3-0 and are now 6-5-2 overall.

A defensive battle didn't feature many opportunities for either team with a total of just five shots in the opening 45 minutes. Play opened up a bit in the second half as the squads combined for 15 shots.

The Blackbirds would be the only squad to find the back of the net, though, tallying the match's only marker in the 74th minute. Simen Hestness sent a pass to Nauel Medina who tallied his second of the season for what proved to be the gamewinning goal.

Senior goalkeeper Brenden Alfery made six saves for the Colonials while the Blackbirds' Logan Keys made five stops to record the shutout.

The Colonials stay in Brooklyn to take on the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers Sunday, Oct. 18, in a 2:00 p.m. match.
