Brooklyn, N.Y. – For the second straight season and the third time under head coach
Dale Starr, the
Robert Morris University volleyball team advanced to the Northeast Conference Tournament championship, with a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-13, 25-22) victory over No. 3 seed Bryant on Saturday evening at the Steinberg Wellness Center. The title game will be a rematch of last year's conference championship between RMU and three-time defending champion LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m.
Robert Morris (18-12) extended its current winning streak to a season-best six matches with the semifinal victory over Bryant (19-14).
Senior
Kristin Thompson posted a team-leading 16 kills and added three block assists and two digs. Junior
April Krivoniak tabbed a double-double with 14 kills at a .424 clip and 14 digs, and boasted a career high tying three service aces. Classmate
Arden Fisher earned her 18
th double-double of the season and 40
th of her career with 11 kills and 28 digs. Freshman
Taylor Lord tallied double-digit kills for the seventh straight match with 10. Junior
Leah Dunivan contributed six total blocks.
The Colonials were firing on all cylinders in set three, and senior First Team All-NEC honoree Thompson played a large role in the rally after Robert Morris dropped set two. RMU trailed Bryant early in the frame, 4-5, but went on to rip off an incredible 15-0 run and take a sizeable 19-5 lead over the Bulldogs. Thompson accounted for five kills and two block assists during the run. The Colonials closed out the set on a block by Dunivan and Lord. Bryant's 13 points earned in the third frame are the fewest scored by an RMU opponent in a set this season.
Set four was a back and forth affair as Bryant fought hard to keep their season alive, but the Colonials came up with critical points down the stretch and remained aggressive throughout the frame. RMU posted a match-high 17 kills in the final set, including four from four different players to earn the team's final five points of the match.

Freshman Taylor Lord has posted double-digit kills in her last seven outings.
A November to Remember
Robert Morris is currently undefeated in matches played in November 2015.
