Colonials Cruise Past Knights, 3-1

Four record double-doubles as RMU extends winning streak to three

Hackensack, N.J. – Sophomore Brianna Frakes, juniors Arden Fisher and April Krivoniak, and freshman Taylor Lord all tabbed double-doubles in a 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22) victory over Northeast Conference opponent Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday afternoon to close the regular season road slate.

The Colonials (15-12, 9-3) are now riding a three-match winning streak, while the Knights (10-17, 3-9) dropped the fifth of their last six matches.

Frakes set a career high in assists (51) during last night's win over Sacred Heart and went on to improve that mark in today's match, as she posted 54 assists and added 14 digs. Lord posted her third double-double in four matches and fourth consecutive double-digit kill performance with 10 kills and 15 digs. Krivoniak turned in a career-high 18 kills and added 19 digs, while Fisher went off for 14 kills and 23 digs to turn in her second straight double-double. Lord and Krivoniak also added four block assists each.

Robert Morris University trailed 21-18 late in the second set after winning set one, but the Colonials pushed to 25 on a 7-1 run, which gave the visiting team a sizeable advantage heading into set three. However, FDU made a similar move at the end of the third frame and posted seven-straight points to take the set.

The majority of the fourth set was back-and-forth until the Colonials ripped off five straight points to go up 16-10  and caused the Knights to take a timeout in the middle of the run. FDU responded with three straight points after the Robert Morris scoring streak, but were unable to hold off the Colonials' attack, as RMU earned its last two points of the set on kills from Fisher and senior Kristin Thompson.

As a team, the Colonials recorded a season-high 90 digs.

One last regular season weekend remains as the Colonials return to the Charles L. Sewall Center to host league leader Bryant on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. and Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m.
