Pittsburgh, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University women's soccer team suffered a 6-0 loss to Pitt in a Sunday afternoon game at Duquesne University's Rooney Field as part of the Steel City Classic which features the four Pittsburgh-area Division I women's soccer teams – RMU, Pitt, Duquesne and Saint Francis University. The loss moves the Colonials to 0-2 on the season while the Panthers earn their first victory to move to 1-0-1.
Jerena Harmon, who finished the game with three goals, opened the scoring in the 39th minute on one of Kaylee Rabatin's three assists. Harmon would put the Panthers up 2-0 just before the break, scoring with four seconds left in the first half.
Roosa Arvas then scored the first of two consecutive goals in the 58th minute before tallying another in the 60th minute. Harmon registered her hat trick in the 77th minute. Rabatin wrapped up the scoring and a five-point afternoon with a goal in the 89th minute.
Chelsea de Jager took the loss in goal making eight saves in the first half of play. Freshman
Halle Lahammer (2 GA, 0 saves) and sophomore
Serena Donmoyer (2 GA, 4 saves) split the second half action in net. Taylor Francis had two saves to earn the clean sheet for Pitt.
Robert Morris will commence the home portion of its 2015 slate next Sunday, Aug. 30, by hosting the Niagara Purple Eagles in a 3:00 p.m. match at North Athletic Complex.
