Colonials Welcome Crosstown Rival Duquesne

RMU hosts Duquesne Tuesday night at the Sewall Center

Moon Township, Pa. –  Prior to embarking on a 14-match road swing, the Robert Morris University volleyball team is set to host crosstown rival Duquesne University on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Charles L. Sewall Center.
 
The Colonials (2-1) are coming off a successful opening weekend at the 2015 Robert Morris Invitational, where they defeated UMBC and Loyola Maryland on Saturday. The team hopes to carry its home court advantage into Tuesday evening's nonconference test with the Dukes (1-3).

Robert Morris versus Duquesne
Robert Morris trails in the all-time series with Duquesne, 5-25 (0-5 under head coach Dale Starr), but the Colonials have forced a fourth set in three of the last four meetings between the two Pittsburgh programs.
 
Last Time Out
The Colonials went 2-1 at the 2015 Robert Morris Invitational. Four freshmen made starts in each of the three matches played last weekend: Liz Campbell (S), Brianna Schmid (MB), Allie Yurkovich (L) and Taylor Lord (OH). Newcomers Jessie Kaczmarek and Schaely Renfrew also made their collegiate debut donning the red, white and blue.
 
Seeing Double
Junior Arden Fisher posted back-to-back double-doubles in RMU's victories over the weekend, and in doing so, tallied 20-plus kills in consecutive matches for the first time in her career, including a career-high 23 kills versus UMBC. Fisher boasts 24 career double-doubles.
 
Milestone for the Middle Blocker
With three block assists in the win over UMBC, senior Kristin Thompson surpassed Lindsey Monger on the all-time individual career record list in block assists. She now ranks ninth with 172 block assists.
 
38 Days Later
Following tomorrow night's match, 38 days will pass until RMU's next appearance at home: a conference match up with Sacred Heart on Saturday, October 10 at 3 p.m.
