RMU Heads South for Borderland Invitational

Colonials ready for longest road trip of the season

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University volleyball team continues its road stretch nearly 1,800 miles from the Colonials'  home court, as they head to Las Cruces, N.M., and El Paso, Texas, for the Borderland Invitational to be held Sept. 10-12. RMU will take on co-hosts New Mexico State and UTEP as well as Brown University during the three-day event.

RMU (5-2) is off to its best start since opening the 2008 season at 6-1, and has matched head coach Dale Starr's career-best five nonconference victories while at the helm for Robert Morris, which he achieved in 2011. Last weekend, the Colonials went 3-0 at the Rose Hill Classic in Bronx, N.Y., and captured their first tournament title under Starr. Robert Morris opened the weekend with a 3-1 win over Big East opponent Georgetown, followed by back-to-back sweeps of Niagara and Fordham. Freshman setter Liz Campbell was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while junior Leah Dunivan and senior Kristin Thompson were also named to the All-Tournament Team.
