RMU Downed by Brown, 3-0

The Colonials fall to 0-3 at the Borderland Invitational

Las Cruces, N.M. – The Robert Morris University volleyball team inched closer to Brown with every set, but ultimately fell to the Bears, 25-16, 25-18, 26-24, in their final match of the Borderland Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M., Saturday evening.

The Colonials (5-5) dropped to 0-3 on the weekend against the toughest opponents they have faced all season according to RPI.

Although the Colonials' scores improved with every set, Robert Morris was constantly playing catch up, as the lead changed just three times during the entire match.

Junior Arden Fisher and senior Kristin Thompson led the Colonials' attack with five kills apiece. Additionally, Fisher turned in 14 digs and one block assist, while Thompson tallied three block assists of her own. Freshman Taylor Lord racked up a team-best 18 digs and fellow rookie Liz Campbell led the offense with 18 assists.

The Bears (3-4) snapped a three-game losing skid with their victory over RMU. Brown narrowly edged Robert Morris in total team blocks (five to four) and combined for 42 kills at a .202 clip. Freshman outside hitter Sabrina Stillwell was the only player on either side of the net to post double-digit kills (12).

Robert Morris returns to action on the road in its final nonconference tournament of the season, the Blue/Gold Invitational in Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, Sept. 18.
