ESPN3 to Broadcast Showdown with Youngstown State

Colonials take brief pause from conference play for mid-week contest with Penguins

Moon Township, Pa. – Following their Northeast Conference-opening victory over Saint Francis U, the Robert Morris University volleyball team takes a brief pause from league action to challenge Youngstown State on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Beeghly Center. The non-conference match will be broadcast on ESPN3.
 
The Colonials (6-8) tabbed their eighth-straight conference-opening win on Saturday evening with a 3-1 decision over the Red Flash. Senior Kristin Thompson tallied a season-high 16 kills at a .464 clip and added four block assists. Junior Arden Fisher recorded her 30th career double-double (15 kills, 18 digs) and junior April Krivoniak tabbed her second double-double of the season (10 kills, 12 digs).

Conference-Opening Streak
RMU continued its conference-opening win streak with a 3-1 victory over Saint Francis U. The Colonials haven't dropped a conference opener since a 3-0 loss to LIU Brooklyn in 2007.
 
The Numbers Game
Robert Morris recorded team season-highs in both kills (55) and assists (50) in its 3-1 victory over Saint Francis U.
 
Hold 'Em
The Colonials have limited their opponent to a team attack percentage below .200 in two of their last four outings.
 
Hitting Her Stride
Senior Kristin Thompson is peaking just in time for NEC action. The senior middle posted a season-high 16 kills at a .464 clip in RMU's conference-opener. It was her second consecutive double-digit kill performance and the veteran has hit at .400 or above in two of the last three matches.
 
It Takes Two
For the second time this season, multiple Colonials posted a double-double in the same match. Juniors Arden Fisher and April Krivoniak both tabbed double-doubles versus Saint Francis U on Saturday. The same duo did so earlier in the season at UTEP during the Borderland Invitational.
