Youngstown, Ohio – The
Robert Morris University women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season by blanking Youngstown State, 1-0, at Farmer's National Bank Field in Youngstown, Ohio, Sunday afternoon. The Colonials move to 1-4 on the season while the Penguins slip to 2-4 overall.
Chelsea de Jager earned the clean sheet by making four saves as her defensive back four allowed just 11 shots. Offensively, the Colonials put eight of their 15 shots on net forcing YSU keepers Katie Montgomery and Elizabeth Balgoyen to combine for seven saves.
The game's lone goal and gamewinner came in the 35th minute. Junior
Antonia Grese got control of the ball in the midfield. Her shot from 25 yards carried over the head of Montgomery and slipped under to crossbar to give RMU the only goal it would need for the victory.
Robert Morris finishes off a three-game road by traveling to Athens, Ohio, to take on the Ohio Bobcats in a 5:00 p.m. match Friday, Sept. 11.
