Moon Township, Pa. – The 
Robert Morris University volleyball team capped its non-conference schedule with a 3-0 loss to West Virginia Wednesday evening in the Sewall Center.
 
Senior 
Arden Fisher and sophomore 
Taylor Lord recorded six kills each and reached double-digits in digs. Fisher also racked up three service aces. Sophomore 
Brianna Schmid posted five kills and a team-leading six total blocks. Junior setter 
Brianna Frakes dished 20 assists and put up four blocks.
 
Robert Morris (9-13, 3-3 NEC) kept sets one and two close with West Virginia (11-9, 2-4 Big XII), but allowed the Mountaineers to pull away in set three. WVU opened the third set on a 3-1 run, and led by as many as eight points, 18-10, midway through the frame, after the Colonials committed consecutive attack errors. The Mountaineers widened the gap to 10 points to earn their largest lead of the match at 23-12, and went on to win match point by the same margin.
 
Four consecutive points helped RMU to a 9-6 lead in set two, but WVU responded with an 8-1 run to turn the score around and gain a 14-10 advantage. Four straight West Virginia errors helped Robert Morris to a late lead, 22-20, but the Mountaineers got back on track and claimed six of the next eight points to claim the set, 26-24.
 
The two squads traded points back and forth early in the first set, then two service aces from Fisher helped Robert Morris score four points in a row and go ahead of West Virginia, 14-10. The Mountaineers tied the set multiple times before they knotted the score at 20-20, and then shortly after, stole set one by three points.
 
Robert Morris concludes a four-match home stand on Saturday, Oct. 15 versus NEC opponent Saint Francis U. at 3:00 p.m.

Last weekend's win over St. Francis Brooklyn marked head coach 
Dale Starr's 100th victory as head coach of the Robert Morris volleyball program. He is now three victories shy of his 200
th career win at the Division I level.
