Columbus, Ohio – Robert Morris University men's hockey comes home victorious with a 6-2 win over No. 11 Ohio State University Friday night. The Colonials scored three goals in the second period to take the lead and never surrendered. The win marks the 19th victory over a ranked team in Robert Morris program history (19-25-2 all-time) and the 11th win over a top 15 program. The 6-2 win brings the Colonials record to 4-1 at The Schottenstein Center.
THE BULLET
Alex Tonge led Robert Morris with two goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal. For Tonge, this marks the third two-goal performance of the season and fifth multi-point game of his career.
Spencer Dorowicz and
Eric Israel also posted three-point nights, each with a goal and two assists. For Dorowicz, three points matches a career-high.
John Rey and
Brady Ferguson each notched a goal and an assist while
Luke Lynch nabbed two helpers. It's the first multi-point game of Lynch's career and the third multi-point performance for Rey.
Daniel Leavens and
Timmy Moore also tallied assists.
Freshman goaltender
Francis Marotte made 35 saves and collected his third career victory.

First
Ohio State opened the scoring with a goal by Matthew Weis, his fifth of the season, 3:14 into the game.
Robert Morris evens the score on a goal by
Alex Tonge, his fifth of the season, with 4:25 remaining in the period.
Brady Ferguson broke up the ice with the puck, passed to
Eric Israel who took the initial shot. Tonge collected the rebound to make it a 1-1 game.
OSU led shots on goal 15-11. RMU blocked six shots to the Buckeyes five, including a pair from Ferguson. Marotte made 14 saves in the period.
Second
Robert Morris scores three goals in the period, including two on the power play.
John Rey fired a blast from the blue line, 2:18 into the period for the power play goal.
Tonge scored his second goal of the game at the 11:07 mark to put RMU up 3-1. This would be the eventual game-winner. Dorowicz punched home a power play goal just two minutes and 32 seconds later to make it a 4-1 RMU lead.
Third
Scoring came quickly as Robert Morris and Ohio State traded goals only 33 seconds apart. Ferguson backhanded the puck into the net 2:03 into the third to make it 5-1 before the Buckeyes David Gust closed the gap to 5-2.
Israel popped home a shorthanded, empty net goal with 2:50 remaining to extend the Colonials lead to 6-2.
Marotte made 12 saves in the third period, including six in the final five minutes.
TONIGHT'S MO-MENTUM
The Colonials were perfect on special teams, going 5-for-5 on penalty kills and 2-for-2 on power plays. Robert Morris blocked 17 shots, to Ohio State's 9. Thirteen Colonials skaters blocked at least one shot.
