Buffalo, N.Y. – Wednesday's scheduled doubleheader between the
Robert Morris University softball team and Canisius was canceled due to continued rainfall this afternoon.
The teams had begun the first game of the doubleheader during a steady rain and were tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the second inning when the game was called by the umpires.
There are no plans to reschedule the games.
Senior
Ashley Gerhart had scored RMU's run in the second after she was hit by a pitch, stole second and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches.
Canisius tied the game in the home half on a Colonial miscue and a RBI triple.
Since the game did not reach regulation length, no statistics from the game will count.
Robert Morris will return to action Saturday as it plays its Northeast Conference home openers as part of a doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson at 1:00 p.m.
